- Biography
Wonshik Kim is a Professor of Economics at Konkuk University in South Korea. His primary fields of research are public finance and health economics. Dr. Kim has worked on various policy designs and reforms and is the primary author of several books and papers that were influential for government policies in unemployment insurance, corporate pension, individual pension, a public-private mix of social insurance, the sustainable welfare state, and health insurance. He worked as a research fellow for Friedrich Ebert Foundation Seoul Office (FES, Germany) and as a regional consultant of World Bank (with Senior Economist Robert Palacios). He participated in designing and introducing the unemployment insurance program in Korea. He also served as an active member of Advisory Committees of the Korean government for National Pension, National Health Insurance, Unemployment Insurance, and many others.
