We are excited to announce that our public finance fellow, Sukriti Beniwal, has been awarded a 2025 Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy Grant in support of her dissertation research. This competitive award recognizes her significant contributions to social policy and public health, and it includes a $10,000 grant to further her work.
Sukriti’s dissertation project, “Who Delivers? Midwives and Maternal Outcome in Medicaid,” addresses critical disparities in maternal healthcare and highlights the transformative potential of midwifery care. Sukriti also received the Graduate Student Paper Award at the Southern Regional Science Association (SRSA) Annual Meeting this year.
The Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy supports emerging scholars whose work addresses pressing societal challenges. Established in 1997, its first grants for outstanding policy research were issued in 1999, and it has since made nearly 400 awards to students around the world.
